Summary
DiskSamurai collects no data. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and it does not contact any server of ours.
What the app reads
To measure your disk, DiskSamurai lists the names, paths, sizes and dates of files in folders you have given it access to. It does not open or copy file contents. Find Duplicates computes hashes of file contents on your Mac; the hashes stay on your Mac.
Scan results are kept in a database inside the app's own data folder. Deleting the app deletes them.
Permissions
The app runs in Apple's App Sandbox and can only see folders you grant through the macOS open panel. macOS may also ask, once each, for Desktop, Documents, Downloads and other apps' data. You can revoke any of these in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Optional AI analysis
You can ask an AI model to suggest what is safe to clean up. This is off until you enter an API key from a provider of your choice (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI or an OpenAI-compatible service). When you run an analysis, the app sends that provider file names, paths, sizes and ages from the scan, never file contents. The provider's own privacy policy applies to that data. Your key is stored in the macOS Keychain and sent only to its provider.
Deleting files
Files you remove go to the Trash. The app keeps a local log of what it moved so you can undo.
Network
The app connects to the network only for an AI analysis you start. It does not check for updates or load remote content.
Changes
Changes to this policy are published at this address with a new effective date.
